How can Top Cat be more popular than The Roman Holidays in Mexico? Asterix and Obelix are the only guys I know who can have fun with the alley cats for 12 hours! / 18 hours! (picks up the phone and dials T.C.'s number) I'm going to give that T.C. a piece of my mind! (Dogmatix picks up the phone and Mr. Evictus yells) listen to me, you square-headed Gauls assault on my ears, I've had enough of this! Strawberry.

Your download count passes a milestone and the group chat erupts. Someone says "that's a lot", someone else says "that's nothing", and a third person pulls out a screenshot of a bigger number. Nobody agrees what "a lot" means anymore. You join the virtual queue for concert tickets and see your position. It's four digits. It's five digits. By the time it loads again you are somehow further back, and you have started negotiating with the progress bar. The season finale drops and the whole internet watches it in the same weekend. You avoid every app for 48 hours, only to find that a colleague has spoiled it with a single, cheerful "wow, that ending". You ask how many unread emails are in your inbox, expecting a respectable number. The little red badge has stopped counting and just says "99+". It has been saying that since March. **Why it caught on:** the picture shows Vegeta, the Saiyan prince from Dragon Ball Z, crushing a scouter, the device used to measure power levels, in his fist after it reads his rival's power as over 9000. In the 1990s English dub, the line "It's over 9000!" was a famously over-the-top delivery. It spread across forums in the mid-2000s as shorthand for any number that is absurdly large, and it fits every count, queue and statistic that gets out of hand.
