Hitler meme: trump running in 2024 / heil to the chief

A Hitler post.

Someone at the pub decides the table needs a "dark one". It lands in a silence long enough to hear the fruit machine. He says "too soon?" and nobody tells him it was never a matter of timing. A lad posts the worst joke he knows under a stranger's photo, then refreshes the page for twenty minutes. The reaction he gets is a deleted comment and a ban notice, which he describes to his mates as censorship. Christmas dinner, and an uncle has been saving something he saw online. You watch a gravy boat go round the table in total silence. Your nan asks who wants more sprouts, in the voice of a woman steering a ship away from rocks. Every group chat has the member whose idea of edgy is just old and cruel. The chat goes quiet, then someone sends a picture of a dog, and the dog is doing more for the group than he has all year. **Why it caught on:** the meme is named after Adolf Hitler, the Nazi dictator, and uses a black-and-white studio portrait of a stern man in a uniform shirt with a strap across the chest. Captions turned the Holocaust, in which six million Jews were murdered, into puns about gas and camps, so the stereotype is plain: the jokes are antisemitic, and they trivialise genocide. It spread as shock humour, where the point was the reaction, and it is the sort of content most sites remove.
